To my beloved son, I really do pray that grace, mercy and love from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ will be your experience today and in the days to come.
The things that you have seen in me, that are true in the Scriptures and which honor and even remind you of Jesus, continue in those things and pass them on to others who will be able to pass them on to others as well.
Never get over your salvation, always be falling in love again with Jesus, being so glad for His forgiveness, mercy, love, provision, protection, and being eager to talk about Him with anyone and everyone.
Love your wife, as Jesus loves His bride – us – and as you have seen me love my wife. Be the brother your brothers and sisters know you to be and need you to be.
Always remain in community and serving with your church – your local spiritual family. Be diligent to find ways to serve Jesus together, celebrate how unique each one is, be in healthy relationship with your brothers and sisters in the body and help others to enjoy mutually healthy relationships in the same way. Be ready to lead, and ready to serve. Remember that just as the world is bigger than the US, so also the body of Christ is bigger than your church or our fellowship of churches, or just even bigger than you think it is. It is Jesus’ body.
You know who your God is, and so remember what He wants you to do. Remember, too, with whom you have decided to do it, and be diligent to work hard on it together with them. Remember that the only inerrant document is the Bible, and everything else you or anyone else writes is adjustable, correctable. To treat our words in any other way is to deify our words, which is idolatry.
Always continue to read the Bible, everyday in some way, and to be quiet before God. Invite Him to search your heart, and wait for His response. Let Jesus lead you into the day He has planned for you.
Yours together in His very glad service,
Dan Jackson
