Here is what I want to most pass on to you – don’t forget that no one owes you anything and Christ has given you everything. The idea of a pain free world is an illusion – decide that suffering is the lot of a life lived for the glory of God in a sin cursed world. Should it be any different for you than it was for the Son of God? Every day you must like a swimmer with one hand reach for the goal, the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus and with the other hand release behind you the failures and successes of yesterday. At 55 years old I know there are dark nights of the soul and that the storms of life can tear the building of your life and family to the foundation but you by faith and love and perseverance and by digging deep into the treasures of wisdom and knowledge of holy Scripture you will come to know the Lord over the storms. Stand fast in the winds of opposition and hear Him say again “Peace Be Still” feel the deadness of your ability and natural giftedness and press like Jello in a mold into the life giving relationship you truly have through faith with the Lifegiver. When the darkness of criticism sweeps over you go into the closet of prayer and don’t come out until the Light of the Sun creating God shines with glorious joy in the inner man.
People will tell you we live in a difficult time technology is changing the world spiritual apathy is overwhelming the world multiculturalism is in and cell groups are out. Remember this buzz words come and go seasonschange, methods morph, but what really matters never changes. There is nothing new under the sun. Sin is still sin, right is right is right and wrong is wrong and the Blood has not lost its power. People are still lonely confused fearful and lost whether they have an iPod or not.
Finally as was told to me do everything you can to have the mind of a scholar to preserve the truth and the heart of an evangelist to win souls. I only hope these are the things you have seen in me lest I only be another voice saying, “Do as I say and not do as I have done.”
