As I sit looking at the ocean, watching and listening to the waves coming in and going out,
I am reminded how brief life is, that we only have a few years to really make an impact of the beach of life.
My son love God with all your heart and love people. Ask God the Holy Spirit to implant with in you a supernatural love for people.
Walk with God, daily step, by step. Never stop growing in pursuit of God. I hope you will learn from my mistakes and be able to learn from your own mistakes and failures. Be Holy, the world need to see those who are striving to live a holy life.
Know the importance of God’s grace. Remember that we are not only saved by grace alone, but this life can only be lived by grace. God grants more grace to the humble. Stay humble before the Lord knowing all you have is from Him and all you will accomplish is because of Him and for Him.
Hold on to sound doctrine. Preach it, teach it, and most importantly live it. Be an example to the flock. Your life is your message. The people you shepherd are to observe and follow your conduct.
Be mindful that sometimes the sheep bite, however you must continue to love, forgive and be patient with God’s people.
Make your wife and your family top priority, even over your ministry. Love them and enjoy them. They are your real ministry.
Be ever mindful of Spiritual warfare. The enemy is real and the battle is real. There will be real casualties, so be always alert and praying, develop a real and consistent prayer life.
Know that whatever you go through and wherever God leads you, God will never leave nor will He ever forsake you. The God who calls you is faithful!!!
Most importantly and this is the key: Be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Understand He is vital. Surrender yourself to His control in your life and ministry. Allow Him to lead you in everything. (Eph 5:18).
I also encourage you to prayerfully find others whom you can mentor in the faith and in ministry. Begin preparing now what you will write to them when your wave disappears into the ocean.
Love your friend and brother
