A ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 3 marked the official public opening of the new Tree of Life bookstore and cafe in the old Herald Bookstore space at 1104 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Indiana.
Board members of both Grace College and Seminary and Brethren Missionary Herald Company were among the 100-plus who participated in the grand opening.
Cutting the ribbon is Christi Mann, a Grace College student from Warsaw, Ind. She had created a “Tree of Life” cup costume for a masquerade at the school, and wore it to the grand opening of the store. November 3, the day of the celebration, was Christi’s 19th birthday.
When the previous owner/operator of the Herald Bookstore announced its closing last April, BMH approached Tree of Life, who subsequently signed a long-term lease with BMH for the space. The new store is a combination general Christian bookstore, full-service cafe, coffee bar, and college bookstore, featuring textbooks, clothing, office supplies, and music. (Joel Curry photo)
