Word has been received from Pastor Jack Brown in Gloucester, Massachusetts, that Dave Warner from the Island Pond, Vermont, Grace Brethren Church (Jake Kocis, pastor) was crushed by a tree late yesterday and went home to be with the Lord.
According to a police report, Warner was cutting trees on his property late yesterday and was found at about 6 p.m.
Dave Warner and his wife, Greta, moved from Winona Lake, Indiana, to Island Pond about a year ago to work with that church. Warner, who had been employed in the U.S. Postal system, had a heart for church-planting and was well-known in the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church for his desire to return to Vermont and assist in church-planting there.
Warner was previously on the staff of Community Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw, Indiana, but had been attending the Winona Lake church.
Warner’s son, also named Dave Warner, is a banker in the Winona Lake/Warsaw community. He and his family attend the Community of Hope Grace Brethren Church in Columbia City, Indiana, where he is the church treasurer. He and his family were also planning to move to Vermont this summer.
Further details will be posted as they become available.
