In Walking Like Jesus Did, a BMH book by author Larry McCall. His thesis, based on Scripture, is that mirroring the character of Jesus Christ should be the normal pattern of life for the Christian.
This presupposes two things–a knowledge of Jesus’ character, best gained through studying Him in the Bible, and a personal commitment to being like Christ.
The key teaching of the Bible is that man is sinful and unable to have a relationship with God–that relationship has been disrupted and fractured by man’s sinful nature.
But the good news is that God, by sending the gift of His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross, has made forgiveness and salvation available to all who will reach for it.
Have you confessed your sin and asked God to control your life? You can do it now, using words something like these:
God, I’m sinful and separated from You. I’m sorry for my sin–I repent, and wish to turn my life around. I recognize that salvation comes only through Your Son, Jesus Christ, and today I accept Him and commit to following Him forever. Please receive me as Your child.
God’s promise is secure–all who come to Him this way will be gladly received. You will be born again. You will have new life–eternal life.
