Grace Fellowship Church, a Grace Brethren congregation in Waterloo, Iowa (Rob Borkowitz, pastor), is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary in October. The event includes visits with former pastors and staff members, John Burke, Ron Weimer, and Rob and Cristy Barlow.
Betty Grady Bergen recently posted this photo on Facebook and we’re sharing it with her permission. “Alaska and Hawaii became the 49th and 50th state in 1959,” she remembered. “When our church was remodeled in 1961, I was the little girl that put a 50 star flag into the cornerstone (like a time capsule). … I love little ol’ sweet lady watching me. They are opening the cornerstone at the celebration in October.”
Her sister, Donna Grady Miller, added, “The sweet lady is Grandma Schrock and the man in the back is Orlon Henry with Pastor [John] Aeby. If you look closely you will see Orlon’s string of Sunday School pins on his suit coat!” Orlin Henry is the father of long-time Grace College faculty member, now retired, Ron Henry.
A recent story in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier shares some of the schedule. A portion of it appears below. Click here for the complete article.
