The local news station, WDVM, recently reported on an event sponsored by the Grace Brethren Church, Waynesboro, Pa. (Timothy Clothier, pastor). Church in Waynesboro helps single mothers with free oil changes
A church in Waynesboro is giving back in a big way by providing free oil changes on Saturday for single mothers of all ages.
“This is our first community oil change,” said Eli Anderson, a volunteer. “It’s going pretty good.”
Volunteers from Waynesboro Grace Church decided to set up a pop-up car shop.
“We got guys in our church that know how to turn wrenches and it seemed like a pretty natural idea to explore,” Pastor Timothy Clothier said.
Mae Floyd is a single mother. She brought her daughter along, dropped off her car and waited with some refreshments and goodies. For Floyd, it hasn’t always been easy.
“Because being a single mom, money gets tight,” she says.
Pastor Timothy Clothier says they didn’t do it alone. They collaborated with NAPA Auto Parts down the street for the oil and necessary parts.
