BMH Books author and former Grace Theological Seminary professor Dr. John C. Whitcomb has had a major impact on the cause of Christ around the world through his teaching, writing, and speaking. One of Dr. Whitcomb’s most important writings was the groundbreaking book, The Genesis Flood, which he coauthored with Dr. Henry Morris in 1961. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of The Genesis Flood.
To honor Dr. Whitcomb on this notable anniversary, Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa, is planning a special recognition service for him on Monday, September 19, 2011.
Dr. Whitcomb will be on the Iowa campus that week teaching a module in Apologetics. The service will begin at 7:30 in Faith’s Convocation Center. The service will include testimonies from people Dr. Whitcomb has influenced through his teaching, speaking, and writing. His wife, Mrs. Norma Whitcomb, also plans to be in attendance. There is no charge to attend this meeting. A nursery will not be provided.
Faith also announces the formation of the John C. Whitcomb Scholarship for deserving students at Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. This scholarship, funded by donations from friends, former students, and colleagues of Dr. Whitcomb, will enable Faith seminary students to continue their theological education and preparation for ministry. To contribute to this seminary scholarship fund, contact the Faith Advancement Department at 1-800-409-3305.
Answers in Genesis will also sponsor a two-day event at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, on October 14 and 15 to celebrate the 50th anniversary, as well. For information on that event, log onto http://www.answersingenesis.org/outreach/event/7110/
