Wildfires in southern California have been reported north of Los Angeles in Simi Valley, home to Charis Fellowship’s Grace Church (Jordan Bakker, senior pastor) and Grace Brethren Christian School. Here’s an update from Pastor Jordan as of Wednesday evening.

Many from our school and church had to evacuate their homes, our schools were shut down yesterday and today, but as of now, I do not believe anyone has lost their home. Power is out through a large chunk of Simi, and that may happen again today, at least in a ‘rolling blackout” way.  Unfortunately this has become a normal occurrence this time of year, but we also have some amazing firemen and support crews, some of whom are from our church and school, who help keep the loss of life and structures to a minimum. God’s providential hand has been seen through all of this, and I’m proud of our church and families who have offered help to anyone without power or have been displaced.
