ENCOMPASS WORLD PARTNERS is pleased to announce the appointment of Barb Wooler as Director of Emergency Relief Efforts for the Central African Republic. “Barb assumes this responsibility with broad support from the leadership of Encompass, the Grace Brethren community, and our key partners in Africa,” according to Dr. Dave Guiles, executive director. “She has a long track record of mobilizing others for meaningful ministry to meet spiritual and physical needs, and is uniquely positioned to lead our response to this humanitarian crisis.”
The CAR is home to the largest concentration of Grace Brethren in the world, with an estimated 2,500 churches. Escalating ethic and religions conflicts have produced a humanitarian crisis where almost half the population is facing severe food shortages, and tens of thousands have fled their homes.
Over the next nine months, Barb will be heading efforts to place one million pounds (500 kilos) of food aid in the hands of our African partners, who will take responsibility to distribute aid where most needed. She is also committed to facilitating the efforts of other agencies who are assuming responsibility to meet other crisis needs.
Interested in how you can help? Begin by setting aside Monday, January 20, as a day for intercessory prayer for peace in the CAR. Then ask God how he might be calling upon you to help with the goal of delivering food aid. More details will be released soon.
