The former chapel at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, Soldotna, Alaska, has been transformed into an inviting youth center.
The young people in Soldotna, Alaska, are enjoying newly renovated digs at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church (Keith Randall, pastor). Earlier this year, the church converted the original church building into an attractive youth center, thanks to more than $14,700 in cash donations and in-kind gifts. Church members (including students) put in more than 1,000 hours in the facility.
“Through fund-raising and a lot of hard work, we have transformed our chapel into a fully functioning Youth Center with a stage, small group areas, homework/tutoring space, sound and media areas, and even our own Coffee Shop called ‘Joe-Mentum,’ which is a play off our national youth conference, Momentum,” notes Jeremy Norton, who has been youth pastor since 2009.
“There is a need for this type of facility along Kalifornsky Beach Road because it is the connecting road between the city of Kenai and the city of Soldotna,” he adds. “Our youth center sits almost equidistance from the two cities and pulls students from both.”
